Jung Jae Young (born May 2, 1978), better known by her stage name J, is a K-pop singer. A Korean-American, she was discovered in a beauty pageant for Koreans in Washington [1]. That allowed her to travel to Korea to become a singer, with her first album Gold/Blue coming out in 1998. It wasn't until her second album In Love, though, that she achieved great success, with her single "어제처럼" (Like Yesterday) going to #1 on the various Korean TV network charts.
Although she has released many albums since, her second album and third albums have been her biggest hits. J released a digital single in 2006 and sang the duet "Perhaps Love", the theme song for Princess Hours (Goong), with new singer HowL; due to the show's popularity, the theme song became popular as well. She has also contributed to other soundtracks
